Seasonal Inventory: 2025

€48,00 EUR

Seasonal Inventory is the book that collects the results of the photographic practice of the same name carried out in San Teodoro in the summer of 2025: approximately 1200 portraits that have composed a sensitive map of the community in its present time.

The project, conceived and conducted by Gianluca Vassallo, is part of one of the core areas of his research, where photography and relational practices intertwine to the point of overlapping. Launched in 2014 with Free Portrait , this investigation has evolved into dozens of other projects, based on a device for documenting humanity that adopts a formally egalitarian, horizontal, and socialist approach.

At its core is the rejection of portraiture as a tool of representation available to the subject. In a world of "self-aggrandizing" subjects, the image does not aim to confirm a desired identity, but to restore truth, wonder, and dignity to the body, freeing it from the logic of objectification and performance. The portrait, thus, reclaims the unexpected, that in-between time that separates what we know about ourselves from what we would like others to know about us.

The volume, with a canvas cover and high-quality printing, is accompanied by texts by Gianluca Vassallo and Maurizio Bosa and presents the practice in its dual nature: archive and public ritual, document and relationship, form and community.
